ABP | New Parliament House: 'Construction of new Parliament is going on fast, winter session is expected in this', said Hardeep Singh Puri

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Friday (November 4), "The work of construction of the new Parliament House is going on at a very fast pace". Less than a month is left to complete the construction work of the new Parliament building in the stipulated time. The government has been saying that the project will be completed by November and the upcoming winter session of Parliament will be held in the new building.

On August 4, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishor told the Lok Sabha that "the development of the new Parliament building has reached 70 per cent and the month of November is the time to complete the project".

Speaking at the UMI conference

Talking to reporters after inaugurating the "Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Exhibition - 2022", Puri said, more than 4,000 people are working on this project round the clock. Said that "It is up to the government to announce its date. The construction work is progressing very well".

Prime Minister had laid the foundation stone

The project to build the Central Vista includes a new triangular Parliament building, Normal Central Secretariat, revamping of the three kilometer long Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, PM Awas, PM Office and Vice President's Enclave. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament building in December 2020. Its construction work is being done by Tata Projects Limited.

The new building also houses the grand Constitution Hall, a lounge for Members of Parliament, library, several committee rooms, dining areas and ample parking to showcase the country's democratic heritage. After the construction of the new Parliament House, the Lok Sabha Hall will have a seating capacity of 770 members, the capacity of the Rajya Sabha Hall will be 384 seats. Both the houses will have digital interface systems and there will be less power consumption.
