ABP | Union Minister's Big Announcement for Chandrapur; A large capacity petroleum refinery will be established

Sep 23,2022

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has made an important announcement in Chandrapur. He has said that a petroleum refinery with an annual capacity of 20 million metric tons will be established in Chandrapur. Puri has been appointed by the party to focus on Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency. Informing that the petroleum department has increased the annual refining capacity from 252 to 400 million metric tons, he criticized the previous state government for stopping the project at Ratnagiri. In this effort to increase the capacity, Puri assured that a 20 million metric ton capacity refinery will be established in Chandrapur.

He announced this while speaking at a special program organized on behalf of Chandrapur BJP. The party has launched a special campaign to regain the Lok Sabha seats lost by the BJP in the state. In the previous Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had lost the Chandrapur seat when the political situation was favourable. Chandrapur Lok Sabha Constituency was the only seat in the state where Congress got success. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is staying in Lok Sabha constituency for 3 days.

The Union Petroleum  Minister announced that a refinery with a capacity of 20 million metric tons will be set up in Chandrapur  , while at the  same time he also expressed displeasure over the stalling of the refinery in Konkan. But after Puri's announcement, what is the future of Konkan refinery? If a refinery is set up in Chandrapur, will a refinery be set up in Konkan or not? This question is also being asked now.

Union Petroleum Minister Puri had made an indicative statement regarding the refinery in Konkan. He had said that the refinery project can be done anywhere in Maharashtra and anywhere on the west and south coast. The Union Petroleum Minister had made a statement to the effect that not only Ratnagiri but also in any area and in any state on the south or west coast. Is this statement of the Union Minister a warning to the State Government? Such discussion also started after this.
