At the Utkarsh project, functioning as Gail India’s flagship CSR initiative, Lakshmi & I were delighted to meet the 60 brilliant girls who were undertaking coaching for prestigious entrance exams.
Utkarsh which began in 2009 in Kanpur provides all-expenses paid specialised residential coaching to under-privileged meritorious children from marginalised sections of the society. The programme has already helped 1317 students till date. Inspired by PM Narendra Modi Ji’s vision of #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao, the Varanasi Centre of GAIL Utkarsh is the first ‘all girls’ centre & the first to provide coaching for both Engineering & Medical to students from Uttar Pradesh & Madhya Pradesh. In a testimony to the great service that this centre is providing to the society  In 2022-23, 28 out of 30 girls secured admissions in prestigious engineering colleges of the country & 29 out of the 30 girls qualified NEET exam.
