BJP gears up for PM's visit to Dharamsala
The BJP is geared up to accord a grant welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will arrive at Dharamsala on June 16 to preside over the conference of the Chief Secretaries being organised here by the NITI Aayog. Dharamsala is being spruced up and BJP flags dot every corner of the city.
The Prime Minister will be welcomed at the police ground by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar.
The Prime Minister’s road show will start from the headquarters of Kangra Central Cooperative Bank and head towards the Circuit House road in Civil Lines, covering a distance of about 1,100 metres. BJP leaders are claiming that about 20,000 party workers will greet the Prime Minister from the roadside in Civil Lines, sources say that about 10,000 people will be allowed for the road show.
BJP workers will have to park their vehicles at the Dari ground or the Zorawar stadium and walk about 4 km to 6 km to participate in the road show. Sources say that the police will barricade the entire road and nobody will be allowed till the road show is over.
The Prime Minister will preside over the meeting of the Chief Secretaries being organised at the HPCA stadium by the NITI Aayog. He will be busy in the meeting till late in the evening on June 16. On June 17 also, the meeting of the Chief Secretaries presided over by the Prime Minister will start at 8 am and he will leave Dharamsala at 5 pm.
The Prime Minister will stay at the Circuit House here. The Chief Minister will be staying in Dhauladhar hotel of the HPTDC and the Governor is expected to occupy the IPH rest house. The district administration has taken over all rest houses and many private hotels for dignitaries coming for the meeting.
The district administration has decked up the HPCA stadium for the conference. Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister for Housing and Petroleum and Natural Gas, will also attend the meeting.
