Airports Authority of India (AAI), the statutory body under the Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced the construction of a new integrated terminal building at Agartala Airport in Tripura.
The new terminal building will be equipped with 20 check-in counters, four passenger boarding bridges, and passenger-friendly facilities. Built on a 30,000 sqm area, the terminal will be able to handle approximately 1,000 domestic and 200 international passengers during peak hour, making its annual passenger handling capacity up to three million.
The new terminal will depict the art and culture of the state. “Bamboo, widely available locally, is being used for construction whereas tribal craft is included to promote cultural tourism,” AAI said in a tweet:
In addition, Advanced Intelligent Building Management System will be used at the terminal to optimise the consumption of energy.
The estimated project cost of this new terminal building is ₹438 crores.
