Central Vista Project: Will there be a winter session in the new Parliament building? Hardeep Singh Puri told how far the work has been completed

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Thursday that the work from Vijay Chowk to India Gate under the Redevelopment Project of Central Vista Avenue would be completed by July 18. Puri said that at present some minor works are being done on one or two underpasses, which are likely to be completed soon.
Under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project, a new triangular-shaped Parliament building, a common central secretariat, rejuvenation of the three-km-long Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, a new Prime Minister’s residence, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Vice President’s residence are to be built. “The work on the Central Vista Avenue redevelopment project is almost complete,” the minister told reporters on the sidelines of an event here. Some minor works are being done on one or two underpasses. The project will be completed by July 15 or 18.

On June 2, Puri had said that the Center has achieved the target of holding the Republic Day parade on the redeveloped Rajpath under the Central Vista Avenue project. Puri had also said that the winter session of Parliament would be held in the new building being constructed by Tata Projects Ltd. Official sources had indicated that work on some parts of the new Parliament building could continue till November 26, the Constitution Day. However, he said that nothing has been decided in this regard yet. In December 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament House with modern facilities.
