Delighted to launch the book ‘The Indentured and Their Route’ by my friend for several decades & an accomplished former colleague Amb Bhaswati
 

The book, for which I also have the privilege of writing the foreword, provides an illuminating narrative of the history of Indian indenture & builds a lucid & lyrical narrative of external struggles & internal resilience of the 1.3 million Indian labourers who were inveigled into servitude across 'Kalapani' as part of the so-called Great Experiment.

The evening also gave Lakshmi & me the opportunity to meet several friends & former colleagues from our Foreign Service days.
