Energetica India | Hardeep Singh Puri Says 'IEW 2023 is a Great Start to a Journey that is Going to Continue and Grow' at IEW

The era of innocence is done, and the era of resilience has begun, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri at the closing ceremony of three-day India Energy Week event.

The Minister also congratulated international and national participants for coming on a common platform to facilitate Growth, Collaboration and Transition to make a sustainable, transformative and prosperous future for all.

“Being the first major event under India's G20 Presidency, it provided a unique opportunity for India to showcase various initiatives taken by Govt of India in the Energy domain to ensure energy security of its 1.4 Billion citizens within the conforms of India’s pledge at COP26 to cut emissions to achieve Net-Zero by 2070,” said Mr Puri.

The IEW 2023 is a great start to a journey that is going to continue and grow from strength to strength. There are practically no global platforms that covers the energy transition issues of the developing and developed world in the manner that we have done through IEW in past three days.

Building on this strong start the platform will only gather further momentum and strength in years to come as the world grapples with the challenges of rapid and just energy transition Minister Puri said.

The Minister informed that alongside India Energy Week, the 7th Roundtable witnessed Hon’ble Prime Minister with CEOs and Experts from Oil & Gas sector where over 30 CEOs & Experts came together to discuss and synergise our approaches, understand each-other’s perspective to align our visions and plans.   

India is on-track to become the 3rd largest economy. It will account for 25% of global demand growth until 2040. As such, India will take centre stage in the global energy space with its global energy consumption rising from 5.7% (2020) to 11.9% (2050), the Minister said.

“I am thrilled with what we achieved together over the past days… I am happy to share that the next edition of India energy week will be held in Goa. And I look forward to engaging with each of you again in Goa,” Mr Puri said in his closing remarks.
