Indore has been adjudged the cleanest city for the sixth time in a row in the Centre’s annual survey. After this Surat has got the second and Navi Mumbai has got the third place. Madhya Pradesh has been ranked first among the states in the annual cleanliness survey of the central government. It is followed by Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

Similarly, Haridwar has emerged as the cleanest Ganga city in the category of more than one lakh population. It is followed by Varanasi and Rishikesh. In the category of cities with population less than one lakh, Panchgani in Maharashtra stood first, followed by Patan (NP) of Chhattisgarh and Karhar of Maharashtra.

Indore and Surat retained their top spot in the big cities category this year, while Vijayawada lost its third place to Navi Mumbai. As per the survey results, Tripura has topped among the states with less than 100 urban local bodies.

According to the survey results, Bijnor stood first among the cities situated on the banks of Ganga with population less than one lakh. This was followed by Kannauj and Garhmukteshwar. Devlali of Maharashtra was adjudged the cleanest cantonment board in the country in the survey. President Draupadi Murmu presented the prizes to the winners at an event here on Saturday. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and others were also present during this.

Central government’s special campaign 2.0 will start from tomorrow

The central government will start its month-long special campaign 2.0 from Sunday for the timely disposal of pending complaints in government offices and departments as well as clean workspace. Union Minister Jitendra Singh will launch this campaign from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) office under the Ministry of Personnel at Sardar Patel Bhawan in Delhi.

On this occasion, Union Minister Jitendra Singh will also release the ‘Special Campaign 2.0 Guidelines Booklet’ presented by the Department of Administrative Reforms. Earlier the Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh had launched the ‘Swachhta’ portal for the Special Drive 2.0 starting from 2nd October. Under this campaign, the focus will be on cleanliness and reducing pendency in the government. This special campaign 2.0 will run from October 2 to October 31. It covers all the Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and all affiliated, subordinate and autonomous bodies as well as all regional offices.

The Union Minister informed that 67,000 sites have been identified by the Ministries and Departments of the Government of India for carrying out the cleanliness drive. Around 21 lakh files and three lakh e-files are to be reviewed during this special drive.
