Got message from Pakistan to include Sidhu in Punjab cabinet: Capt Amarinder Singh

Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday alleged that during his tenure as chief minister, he received a message from Pakistan asking him to reinstate Navjot Singh Sidhu in the Punjab cabinet. This was after Captain Amarinder Singh, the then chief minister of Punjab, had removed Sidhu from the state cabinet, accusing him of being "incapable".

Captain Amarinder Singh added, “I dropped Sidhu from my cabinet because the man was incapable. For 70 days he couldn’t prepare one file. Then two-three weeks later, I got a message from Pakistan to take Navjot Singh Sidhu back in the state cabinet. If he (Sidhu) doesn't work, then you can remove him”.

"The message said the Pakistan PM has asked to take Sidhu into cabinet," Capt Amarinder Singh said during a press conference.

Captain Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu have had strained relations since the former vehemently opposed the latter's appointment as the Punjab unit chief of the Congress.

Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda, Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and chief of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt), Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa were also present in the press conference on Monday.
