Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India will generate 25 percent of global energy demand growth in the next two decades. Presiding over the round table on 'Opportunities in India-US Strategic Partnership', Puri said that India's energy strategy is aware of commitments from international level to green transition and energy availability for all. Affordability and security are to be ensured. India has taken several steps towards producing low carbon through emerging fuels like hydrogen and biofuels. Despite the current challenging energy environment, India's commitment to energy transition and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is undiminished.
More than 60 participants from 35 companies participated in the roundtable conference, including senior leadership from energy companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Cheyenne, Lange Tech, Honeywell, Baker Hughes, Emerson, Tel Aviv. Indian energy public sectors also participated in the event. In a series of tweets, Puri said that the immense potential between the two countries in biofuels, gas-based economy, green hydrogen, petrochemicals and upstream sectors is evident. They are being taken forward together with our private sector companies. He said that due to the reform measures of the government, global oil companies have unprecedented interest in exploration and production in India.
