Hyderabad Metro Rail Declared Open by PM

Hyderabad Metro Rail, the latest addition to the growing list of prestigious L&T-built projects, was declared open on November 28, 2017, by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. Present on the occasion were the Governor of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Shri E.S.L. Narasimhan, Chief Minister of Telangana Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister for IT, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Govt. of Telangana, Shri. K.T. Rama Rao and other dignitaries. Accompanying them were Mr. S.N. Subrahmanyan, CEO & Managing Director, L&T, and Chairman, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd., and Mr. Shivanand Nimbargi, MD and CEO, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister and the dignitaries took a maiden ride between Miyapur and Kukatpally stations to mark the official launch of the first phase of Hyderabad Metro - the 30 km-long section between Miyapur and Nagole, covering 24 stations.

An audio-visual screened at the event and a photo exhibition highlighted L&T’s role in bringing this ambitious project to life to transform Hyderabad and the way it commutes. L&T showcased the engineering aspects of the project, including the steel bridge at Oliphanta and Ameerpet station. Hyderabad Metro Rail is the world’s largest public-private partnership project in the metro sector.

In addition to flagging of the metro service, the Hon’ble Prime Minister launched ‘TSavaari’, a travel itinerary organizer app which is a free online, local travel management app that will assist and guide commuters across locations in Hyderabad using a host of transport options and is designed to cater to the everyday travel needs of commuters.
