Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, said in the 13th Urban Mobility India Conference that after the current Kovid-19 pandemic, there is a possibility of practical changes in urban transport in India in the coming times.

The Union Minister said that, "Various studies show that about 16 to 57 percent of urban people are pedestrians and around 30 to 40 percent of the population uses bicycles in the country depending on the size of the city.

Seeing this as an opportunity, prioritizing these modes gives commuters a more affordable alternative to a private vehicle. If it is integrated with other modes and affordable for all, it provides clean, reliable and especially safe opportunities."
