With the Lok Sabha elections round the corner, political parties are in a race to inaugurate and laying foundation stone of projects even if they are not complete or in a bad shape.

As the date of the general elections is yet to be announced, following which the code of conduct will be enforced, the central, as well as the Delhi governments, are trying to show the amount of work they have done for the people of the national capital.

Union minister of state Hardeep Singh Puri had inaugurated a Rs 180-crore Dhaula Kuan flyover, which was supposed to cut travel time to airport. However, the flyover caved in 24 hours after the inauguration.

Similarly, two weeks of the inauguration of Rs 24-crore multilevel parking lot in Krishna Nagar, residents have to wait for parking their cars in the facility because the tenders are yet to be floated for the construction. Corporator councilor Sandeep Kapoor told India Today TV that the tender process will be completed soon. But the question arises that if the tenders have not been floated yet, why was the parking lot inaugurated in a haste.

In Mahipalpur, the Aam Aadmi Party government had inaugurated a water tank but the underground reservoir (UGR) was not ready. When India Today TV visited the site, it was found that 60% of the work in the UGR was completed but the residents complained of severe water crisis in the area.

When we spoke about the UGR with AAP Mahipalpur MLA Colonel Devendra Sahrawat, he said that the work is pending but the party leaders inaugurated the facility.
