Republic World | 20 percent ethanol-blended petrol will be available in the country in a few days: Hardeep Singh Puri

Dec 23,2022

India will start testing a supply of 20 per cent biofuel-blended petrol in the coming days after meeting its target of selling petrol containing 10 per cent ethanol. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said this on Friday.

India has already produced 10 per cent ethanol-blended gasoline (petrol 90 per cent, ethanol 10 per cent) in June, ahead of the November 2022 target, Puri said at the first public awareness program of 'India Energy Week 2023'.

“E20 (petrol blended with 20 per cent ethanol) will come in a day or two in select markets on a pilot basis. Ethanol extracted from sugarcane as well as agricultural waste is being blended with petrol to reduce India's dependence on imported oil to meet energy needs.
