Union Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has urged public sector construction company NBCC to prepare itself to maximize its chances by building appropriate capabilities, and bidding and winning contracts on its own merit. Complimenting NBCC for growth in FY 2021-22 despite the uncertainties arising due to the pandemic, Hardeep Puri said that the company has demonstrated commitment to not only rethink business strategies and innovate, but also to execute key projects Secured and distributed as well.

He urged the team to pursue it more vigorously, and to capture even more major infrastructure projects as the global construction industry rebounds after the pandemic. The minister was speaking at the 63rd Foundation Day of NBCC (India) Limited, a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Complimenting NBCC for developing projects based on sustainable technologies and green building norms to reduce its overall carbon footprint, the Minister said that the Prime Minister's vision of India at the Rate 100 in this golden age of India's development Given this, it is imperative that organizations like NBCC adopt latest construction standards to build sustainable and inclusive infrastructure.

During the event, the minister appreciated NBCC's involvement in several important infrastructure projects - be it the development of Delhi's first World Trade Center or the redevelopment of Pragati Maidan into a world-class exhibition-cum-convention centre. He said that NBCC has also made a name for itself as a reliable partner of the government in resolving difficult projects like the stalled Amrapali project in Noida.

The minister said that NBCC has already completed 3500 units, and is on track to deliver all the flats by 2024. He said that NBCC is increasing its presence in overseas markets and is looking for business in various countries like Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Seychelles. He appreciated the company for the quality of development, simplicity of design and timely delivery of recent international projects. Like the Indian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Edu City, Institute of Security and Law Enforcement Studies in Maldives, Supreme Court building in Mauritius and Mahatma Gandhi Convention Center in Niger.
