The Economic Times | Hardeep Singh Puri re-appointed as housing and urban development minister

Hardeep Singh Puri has been re-appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

In 2019 elections, Puri lost the Amritsar seat to Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla. Aujla won the seat by a margin of 99,626 votes.

Puri was born on 15 February, 1952. He has done BA (Hons) History from Hindu College, University of Delhi in 1971. He completed his MA (History) in 1973.

In 1974, he joined the Indian Foreign Service. He has previously held senior positions at the Ministries of External Affairs and Defence, held ambassadorial level posts in the United Kingdom, Brazil. He has also served in India's Missions in Tokyo, and Colombo.
