Very happy to interact with more than 500 delegates at the SBM GOBARdhan Biogas Conference & interact with the participants. Sustainable development is the most pressing challenge and the foremost ambition of the world. Today, no other subject in the development space is receiving as much attention as sustainability & circular economy. And rightly so. Govt led by PM Narendra Modi Ji is taking numerous steps to indigenise our value chains, & has drafted and notified rules & regulations regarding management of various kinds of waste to increase circular economy. These measures have resulted in 95.5% of the wards in India practising 100% door-to-door waste collection & 88% of the wards practising 100% source segregation. Under SwachhBharatGov we are actively encouraging & overseeing the development of waste-to-energy & bio-methanation plants with a cumulative capacity of 15,000 TPD. Action plans to set up 55 CBG plants with 6,121 TPD capacity have been approved till date. 13 more plants are being set up with state funds & another 28 CBG plants are being set up by OGMCs.
