Srikant Jadhav, chairman of Indian Oil (IOCL), said that in the next three months, all domestic gas cylinders will have a QR code. On the occasion of World LPG Week, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that this is a revolutionary change as consumers will be able to track LPG cylinders. 

QR code will be welded
He said that customers will be able to get complete information about the cylinder through QR code. That is, where has the cylinder been refilled and what safety tests have been done in connection with the cylinder. The QR code will be pasted on the existing cylinder by means of a label. When it will be welded on the new cylinder. 

QR code embedded 20 thousand LPG cylinders
under unique code based track 20 thousand LPG cylinders embedded with QR code have been issued in the first phase. It should be noted here that this is a type of bar code that can be read by a digital device. Puri said that QR code will be affixed on all 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders in the next three months.
